Kevin Walters of Walters Architects has been asked to join Rothley Parish Council by the members of his local community.
It is still unclear exactly what his role in the council will include but after attending his first meeting last night, 20th June 2011, he is waiting for the council’s response to him expressing a formal interest.
Kevin hopes his involvement in Rothley Parish Council will help keep the practice informed of local planning and building activity and help him understand some of the finer points of local politics.
Walters Architects are pleased to announce the completion of their first timber framed building.
The single storey domestic kitchen extension incorporates a pre-treated double skin timber frame and vertically hung cedar cladding with a bespoke feature corner door.
Responsible sourced frame, cladding and insulation (which exceed current building requirements) create a truly sustainable addition to a traditional Victorian house which is both functional and attractive.

The RIBA are compiling a register to promote the services of architects working on listed buildings and buildings within conservation areas.
The register will be divided into three parts and consist of:
- Specialist Conservation Architects (SCA) suitable for those working on historical buildings of national importance
- Conservation Architects (CA) suitable for architects working on regionally important historical buildings such as grade II listed buildings and buildings set in a historical context
- Conservation Register (CR) suitable for those working on repairs, alterations and extensions to buildings with conservation areas.
Walters Architects have experience with both listed buildings and works within conservation areas and have applied to be placed on the forthcoming register which is due to come into effect in the autumn of 2010.
