These images are from the film Ghost Writer by Roman Polanski which was premièred on Channel 4 last night. They are of the interior of a beach house which features heavily in the film. The interior was designed by furniture designer Walter Knoll and it reminded me of the very reason I wanted to become an Architect. The house is stunning and plays with materials, colour and light to brilliant effect. If only all residential projects were like this.
We have been asked by an existing client to design a barn and seek planning permission for a horse walker. After conversations with the local authority the scheme appears to be feasible. We enjoy equestrian building as it is so different to our usual work.
Our client had put their proposed extension and refurbishment works on hold and, due to a lack of contact, we had assumed the project was redundant. However, they have recently contacted the office to reinstate our services. This is great news as this is a lovely house by a well know local architect within a conservation area familiar to us.
Walters Architects have been asked to prepare a Pre Planning Application for works to a grade II Listed Building within the conservation area of Stoneygate in Leicester.
The works involve a new first floor extension to the main house and a first floor conversion of the coach house.
Theses Pre Planning Applications usually only take a couple of weeks and are relatively inexpensive to prepare. They allow clients to make informed decisions based on planners initial views on which a full planning application can be based.
Walters Architects would like to wish all their clients, suppliers and associates a happy new year.
