Walters Architects –
New Conservation Register

The RIBA are compiling a register to promote the services of
architects working on listed buildings and buildings within
conservation areas.
The register will be
divided into three parts and consist of:

Specialist
Conservation Architects (SCA) suitable for those working on
historical buildings of national importance. |

| ▪ |
Conservation
Architects (CA) suitable for architects working on regionally
important historical buildings such as grade II listed
buildings and buildings set in a historical context. |

|
| ▪ |
Conservation
Register (CR) suitable for those working on repairs,
alterations and extensions to buildings with conservation
areas. |
Walters Architects have
experience with both listed buildings and works within conservation
areas and have applied to be placed on the forthcoming register
which is due to come into effect in the autumn of 2010.
Phase 1 of New Research Facility

Walters Architects are pleased to announce the completion of the
first phase of an interior refurbishment scheme for a research and
development facility at a well respected local university.
The
project involved the installation of new offices, conference
facilities and research laboratories.
The
project was delivered on time and is now fully operational much to
the delight of our client. Phase 2 of the project is currently
underway and we are looking forward to the next stage in the scheme.

Walters Architects - Code for Sustainable
Homes Assessors

Walters Architects are please to announce that we have recently
become accredited BRE (Building Research Establishment) ‘Code for
Sustainable Homes’ assessors.
The Code is an environmental assessment method for new build homes
based upon BRE Global's Ecohomes and considers 9 key categories in
sustainable house design.
The Code became a mandatory requirement on 1st May 2007 for new
homes and aims to protect the environment by providing guidance on
sustainable housing construction.

Architect in the House

Walters Architects are pleased to announce that we have signed up to take
part in this years ‘Architect in the House’.
Architect in the House is an innovative scheme that matches homeowners with
RIBA chartered architects who gives up an hour of their time for a design
consultation. In exchange, the homeowner makes a suggested minimum donation
of £40 to Shelter, the housing and homelessness charity.
