This is a Grade II listed building in a Conservation Area which the clients desperately wanted to extend and refurbish but believed they had little chance of gaining planning permission based on previous experience with the Local Authority planning department.
The client approached Walters Architects because of our experience with Listed Buildings (and conservation schemes) and they were surprised at what we advised, how quickly we came up with a design and how smoothly the application was processed and approved.
This project is much larger than the client had initially hoped for with the planning application and listed building consent application being approved on the first application without compromise.
The key to this project was engaging the Local Authority at the earliest possible moment and agreeing the best way forward with the Conservation officer as soon as possible.
Our client, the council and Walters Architects are delighted with the results.
